The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) has issued a warning to real estate brokers and service providers in Saudi Arabia regarding compliance with regulations. Violations of the Real Estate Brokerage Law and its bylaws could result in the suspension or revocation of licenses, along with fines reaching up to SR200,000. This warning follows the detection of several violations, such as practicing without a valid license, failing to verify information from property owners or beneficiaries, and not displaying the licensee’s name or license number in property advertisements. These violations were identified during 39 joint inspection tours that covered 369 real estate establishments across various regions of Saudi Arabia. In August alone, REGA's inspection teams conducted 17,182 field audits of advertising signs and real estate offices, uncovering numerous violations. REGA has urged all brokers and service providers to comply with the rules and regulations to avoid penalties. Additionally, citizens and residents are encouraged to report suspected violations or real estate fraud through the authority’s official platform.

Why this mattersThis warning from REGA highlights the importance of compliance with real estate regulations, which could impact real estate practices in Madinah. Developers and service providers must ensure adherence to avoid penalties, which could affect project timelines and costs. The emphasis on regulation may also influence the availability of licensed brokers and service providers in the region.
