Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in activation of Resource Public Key Infrastructure Route Origin Validation (RPKI RoV), according to the latest measurements by APNIC, the regional internet registry that administers IP addresses for the Asia Pacific. The Kingdom recorded an activation rate of 99.8 percent. The report was published by Saudi Gazette on October 19, 2026.

RPKI RoV helps verify that an internet router is sending network traffic through the correct, authorized networks. The technology reduces the risk of traffic being directed to untrusted websites or online services.

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) said the Kingdom’s leading position in the indicator emphasizes the effectiveness of the communications sector’s efforts to adopt global best practices. The commission also said the result reflects Saudi Arabia’s advanced competitive standing in international indicators.

According to the CST, that standing contributes to greater maturity, reliability and security in the Kingdom’s internet infrastructure. The commission described the ranking as part of continuing efforts to advance the maturity of the national internet ecosystem.

The article also notes Saudi Arabia’s position among the world’s top five countries in the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) implementation indicator. It says the Kingdom ranks first among G20 countries in the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validation indicator.

The CST said these results reflect broader progress across the internet ecosystem, including integrated efforts across the sector and infrastructure that is efficient, secure and reliable.

Why this mattersFor a Madinah practice delivering hospitality, mixed-use and residential projects, the reported result points to a highly developed national digital-infrastructure environment that can support connected buildings and services. It does not establish local network performance or project-level service guarantees, so treat it as national context rather than a substitute for checking connectivity with providers at a specific site.
