Saudi Arabia Responds to Houthi Drone Attack on Makkah
Saudi Arabia has condemned a drone attack by the Houthi militia targeting the holy city of Makkah. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a cowardly terrorist attack and a provocation to Muslims worldwide. This attack is noted as a continuation of the Houthi militia's practices of targeting and violating holy sites. The Kingdom highlighted that this was the second attempt to target Makkah, with the first occurring on July 27, 2017. The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed the drone before it entered Makkah’s restricted airspace. Saudi Arabia called on the international community to condemn such attacks and take a firm stance against threats to holy sites and international trade. The Kingdom reiterated its right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory and the Two Holy Mosques.
