Saudi citizens can now apply for the United States' Global Entry program, which lets eligible travelers benefit from expedited immigration processing when they arrive at US airports. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the move.

The ministry said the step is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States and to facilitate travel for citizens of both countries.

Global Entry is administered by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and forms part of the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP). Approved travelers can use dedicated lanes and self-service kiosks for faster entry into the United States. The program reduces waiting times at immigration and border control checkpoints and speeds up identity verification and passport inspection on arrival.

Eligible members can also benefit from TSA PreCheck, which offers expedited security screening through designated lanes when departing from US airports. The ministry said the program also benefits families, since eligible travelers can access both Global Entry and TSA PreCheck services through a single membership.

According to the ministry, Saudi citizens apply online through the Trusted Traveler Programs portal by completing an enrollment application and paying a $120 fee. Applicants who receive conditional approval must attend an in-person interview before their membership can be activated. Once approved, membership remains valid for five years.

The ministry said the program gives access to services at more than 200 airports across the United States, in partnership with more than 80 participating airlines. It stressed that enrollment is subject to the requirements and regulations of the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia and the United States, and that submitting an application does not guarantee approval.

Why this mattersThere is no direct Madinah angle in the story, but it is relevant to the practice's work. Faster US entry is likely to ease short-notice trips for owners, investors and partners meeting US hospitality operators, brand teams and consultants. It is worth checking how it fits into the travel plans of any team members and clients who regularly work with US-based partners.
