Saudi ministry sets health rules for men’s barber shops
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has set health requirements for barbers and men’s barber shops. Barbers must hold valid health certificates, maintain personal hygiene and follow proper health practices before and during services.
Home barbering services provided outside a licensed establishment require a specific permit, the ministry said. The article does not specify the permit process or its conditions.
Reusable tools must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised after each use. Single-use tools must be disposed of immediately after use.
Establishments must also regularly clean and sterilise all equipment. Service areas must be kept clean.
The ministry said the requirements aim to protect customers’ health, improve service quality and promote sound health practices in establishments. It also said they are intended to regulate business operations.
The ministry described the rules as guidance for investors and business owners establishing and operating businesses in line with approved standards. It said this would support a better business environment and improve the quality of services offered to customers.
The ministry said raising awareness and clarifying how to implement the requirements are part of an approach that encourages compliance before penalties are imposed. The stated aim is to help business owners meet their obligations and make health standards a consistent part of daily operations.
