StatusConfirmed by the Saudi Gazette.

Expo 2030 Riyadh and Mohammad Al Habib Real Estate Company (MAHR) have entered into a SR3.2 billion joint venture agreement for the development and delivery of the Expo Village, the residential community for Expo 2030 Riyadh. The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, Talal Al-Marri, and the Chief Executive Officer of MAHR, Abdullah Mohammad Al Habib, at the Expo 2030 Riyadh site. The signing ceremony was attended by Saad Alkroud, Head of Local Real Estate Investments at the Public Investment Fund and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Expo 2030 Riyadh Company. The Expo Village is designed to provide purpose-built accommodation for official participants and delegations within a fully integrated sustainable district. It will feature approximately 2,300 residential apartments with the capacity to accommodate around 5,500 residents, supported by retail and dining spaces, amenities, services, and operational facilities. The development will ensure optimal connectivity to the Expo 2030 Riyadh site through the Expo metro station, King Khalid International Airport, and Riyadh’s wider transport network. The Expo Village will transition into a permanent residential community after the Expo, contributing to the long-term legacy of Expo 2030 Riyadh and creating lasting economic and urban value for the city.

Why this mattersThis joint venture represents a significant development in the lead-up to Expo 2030 Riyadh, offering potential opportunities for architectural and construction firms in Madinah to engage in similar large-scale projects. The project's focus on sustainability and integration with Riyadh's transport network may set benchmarks for future developments in the region, influencing design and planning standards. Additionally, the transition of the Expo Village into a permanent residential community post-Expo could serve as a model for adaptive reuse in urban planning.
