Trump Organization Expands Overseas Projects Amid Conflict Concerns
The Trump Organization has been actively expanding its overseas projects during Donald Trump's second term as president. Unlike his first term, where concerns about conflicts of interest led to a more cautious approach, the organization has announced numerous new developments abroad. These include at least five projects with Dar Al Arkan or Dar Global in Saudi Arabia, such as an exclusive golf resort, hotels, and mansions in Wadi Safar, as well as a Trump-branded skyscraper in Jeddah.
In January 2025, just before Trump returned to the White House, Damac Properties, a Dubai-based developer, announced a $20 billion investment in U.S. data centers. Trump has also earned significant licensing and management fees from projects with Damac in Abu Dhabi, although these have not been publicly announced. The Trump Organization's recent activities suggest a shift towards aggressively pursuing foreign business deals, with at least 19 new projects currently under development or pending abroad.
Since the 2024 presidential election, the Trump Organization has announced at least a dozen new projects, with additional unannounced projects listed in Trump's financial disclosures. This expansion has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as Trump has distanced himself from the organization by handing control to his sons, but has not prohibited new foreign deals.
For a developer: The Trump Organization's aggressive expansion into overseas markets, including Saudi Arabia, highlights the potential for lucrative opportunities in international real estate development. However, it also underscores the importance of navigating ethical considerations and potential conflicts of interest when engaging in such ventures.
