Development is accelerating at Jeddah Economic City, with Jeddah Economic Company (JEC) preparing to engage third-party developers for the first phase of the masterplan. The project features the world's tallest tower, which has surpassed the 116th floor and is set to be completed by 2028. The first phase of the development covers 1.7 million square meters and includes over 4 million square meters of gross floor area. Infrastructure for this phase is complete, with all plots serviced and individually titled.

The masterplan for Jeddah Economic City encompasses 5.3 million square meters and includes residential, retail, and office assets, as well as extensive public spaces. The tower, which will exceed 1 kilometer in height, is the centerpiece of the development and will house a Four Seasons hotel, branded residences, and the highest residential units in the world. The tower is expected to attract visitors and residents to Jeddah, enhancing the city's appeal.

Construction technology has evolved since the Burj Khalifa, allowing concrete to be pumped to 1 kilometer, which facilitates the tower's construction. The project has achieved over 20 million hours without a lost-time incident, highlighting the efficiency and safety of the construction process. JEC plans to release residential units for sale in 2027, with a phased approach to land release that prioritizes essential amenities.

Jeddah Economic City is strategically positioned for growth, with plots available for immediate development. The development aims to create a vibrant city center with a mix of amenities and public spaces, encouraging people to live, work, and visit Jeddah. The project is expected to consolidate its position as a key center in Jeddah, supported by strong infrastructure and connectivity to the Red Sea.

Why this mattersFor developers and architects in Madinah, the Jeddah Economic City project offers insights into large-scale urban development and the integration of mixed-use facilities. The project's phased approach and focus on essential amenities provide a model for planning and executing similar developments. The availability of plots for immediate development presents opportunities for partnerships and investment in a rapidly growing area. The project's emphasis on infrastructure and connectivity can inform future projects in Madinah, particularly in terms of creating vibrant, sustainable urban environments.
