Roblox has announced plans to establish its Middle East and North Africa regional headquarters (RHQ) in Riyadh, strengthening its investment in Saudi Arabia and supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions to grow its digital economy under Vision 2030. The immersive gaming and creation platform is one of the most popular and highest-grossing gaming applications in Saudi Arabia, which is among the world’s fastest-growing gaming markets. Roblox brings together millions of user-generated games and educational experiences, providing users of all ages with tools to design, build and publish interactive content within a single ecosystem.

The platform also supports a significant creator economy, with Roblox creators able to earn a share of transactions made using real-world currency. In 2025, creators on Roblox earned more than $1.5 billion, while earnings by creators in Saudi Arabia increased by 59% year-on-year. Roblox’s decision to establish its regional headquarters in Riyadh was supported through collaboration with the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), Riyadh Creative District (RCD) and the General Authority of Media Regulation (GMedia). The move forms part of Roblox’s broader commitment to developing the Kingdom’s creator ecosystem.

The expansion aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the objectives of the National Gaming and Esports Strategy, while also building on Roblox’s 2026 partnership with Savvy Games Group. The partnership focuses on expanding the use of Roblox as an educational platform for teaching STEM skills to Saudi students, creators and studios. Education is a particular focus of the collaboration. Roblox supported Saudi Arabia’s inaugural Play to Learn competition, which attracted more than 700,000 high school students who submitted original game-design concepts for the opportunity to have their ideas developed by a professional studio. The ten winning concepts were developed into games and added to Roblox’s Learning Hub.

Through its planned RHQ presence, Roblox said it intends to continue supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand STEM education through gaming while contributing to the development of the Kingdom’s wider gaming and creator ecosystem. His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation, stated, “Saudi Arabia is building an economy where the next generation creates and participates in our growth story. The Kingdom’s youth are among the most digitally fluent in the world, and our ambition is to ensure they have the platforms, tools, and opportunities to translate that talent into scalable opportunities that will contribute to Saudi Arabia long-term growth. Roblox’s local presence represents the type of long-term investment that will help establish Saudi Arabia as a global hub for the gaming industry.”

Mohamed El Sheakh, Roblox General Manager for the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye, said, “Our decision to establish our regional headquarters in Riyadh is a reflection of Roblox’s long-term investment in Saudi Arabia and our commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s digital economy objectives under Vision 2030. Building on our partnerships in Saudi Arabia across education, creator development, and the gaming ecosystem, we look forward to investing in programming that will support Saudi Arabia’s goal to become a global hub for gaming.”

Why this mattersFor developers and design practices in Madinah, Roblox's establishment of a regional headquarters in Riyadh could signal increased opportunities in the digital economy and gaming sectors. This move may lead to more projects and collaborations in the region, particularly in educational and creative spaces. It also highlights the growing importance of Riyadh as a hub for technology and innovation, which could influence future development strategies.
