Rua AlHaram AlMakki is exploring a significant property development within the King Salman Gate project in Mecca. The development is estimated at SAR 21 billion ($5.6 billion) and is being considered in collaboration with Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), according to the Saudi Press Agency. The proposed project includes a public bus station along with residential, commercial, retail, and other mixed-use developments. Rua AlHaram AlMakki, backed by the Public Investment Fund, launched the King Salman Gate project in October 2025, aiming to transform Mecca’s infrastructure and improve urban services for pilgrims. The partnership is expected to encourage private sector participation and foreign investment in Saudi Arabia's real estate projects. MRCB, listed on the Bursa Malaysia, brings experience in transport-oriented projects like KL Sentral, Malaysia’s largest integrated transport centre.

Why this mattersThis development could significantly impact the real estate and infrastructure landscape in Mecca, offering new opportunities for developers and investors. For those involved in architecture and construction, the project may open doors for collaboration and contracts, especially in transport-oriented and mixed-use developments. The involvement of foreign partners like MRCB suggests potential for international collaboration and knowledge exchange, which could benefit local practices in Madinah and beyond.
