Saudi Arabia's PIF Reports $904 Billion AUM and New Strategy
Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has reported assets under management (AUM) of $904 billion with a 5.8% annual return since 2017 for the year 2025. The portfolio allocation includes 76% in Saudi Arabia, 20% internationally, and 4% in treasury. In May 2026, PIF opened a second office in China, located in Shanghai, following the opening of its Beijing office in 2024. The fund also announced new investment structures with three portfolios: Vision Portfolio, Strategic Portfolio, and Financial Portfolio. The Vision Portfolio aims to leverage synergies across strategic sectors, while the Strategic Portfolio focuses on maximizing financial returns and economic impact. The Financial Portfolio is designed to deliver sustainable financial returns and strengthen PIF's financial position.
The Board of Directors of PIF, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has approved the 2026-2030 strategy. This strategy is a continuation of PIF's long-term plan to drive economic transformation in Saudi Arabia and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. It focuses on maximizing impact, raising investment efficiency, and maintaining high standards of governance and transparency.
For a developer: The PIF's focus on domestic ecosystems and strategic asset potential presents opportunities for developers and investors in Saudi Arabia. The emphasis on sectors like urban development, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy aligns with national priorities and could drive significant growth in these areas. Developers can benefit from the PIF's initiatives to attract global partners and investors, providing a robust environment for sustainable economic development.
