Saudi Arabia Extends Road Transport Compliance Deadline
Saudi Arabia has announced an extension of regulatory compliance deadlines for road transport companies operating in freight and private passenger bus services. The new deadline is set for February 27, 2027. This extension provides businesses with additional time to meet the requirements under the Kingdom’s Land Transport Law. Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Transport General Authority, Saleh Al-Jasser, issued two decisions covering both commercial and non-commercial heavy and light freight transport as well as private passenger transport by bus. The first decision allows private passenger bus operators more time to add newly introduced activity classifications to their commercial registrations, which is necessary for obtaining operating licenses. It also provides additional time to align operations with regulatory requirements under the Land Transport Law. The second decision extends deadlines for commercial and non-commercial heavy freight operators to meet several requirements, including changing vehicle registration classifications from 'private transport' to 'public transport' and obtaining vehicle operating cards. Light freight operators were also granted additional time to obtain professional driver cards and comply with regulations. The Transport General Authority stated that these extensions aim to give businesses the necessary time to complete regulatory procedures, improve compliance, and ensure the continuity of their operations within the approved legal framework.
